We hit the books (thank goodness for college libraries) and investigated what could possibly be causing my skin nightmares. After speaking with a doctor, our lightbulb moment was that our sleeping environment could be the culprit, especially our not-so-skin-friendly bedding. How Smily Silk began

Smily Silk is the vision of two young Cubans students in the USA who were tired of waking up to bad skin and frizzy hair, and wanted to live the silk sheet dream instead.

When they realized that all the silk bedding on the market was out of their price range, they set out on a mission to scour the globe for premium yet affordable, 100% mulberry silk. And once they found it, they decided to share their discovery with everyone else.

So they got busy designing achingly smooth silk bedding, scrunchies, bandanas, beauty bonnets, and sleep masks for anyone who needed them. Their goal is to help people enjoy more beautiful skin and hair—and better sleep—one silken thread at a time.
